Health Foods Sometimes Aren't so Healthy

I have read a report today that discusses foods that are supposedly "healthy". Some of these foods include baked potato chips, diet sodas, and diet cookies. Guess what? Not so healthy after all.

Baked potato chips are still very high in calories, though they do contain less fat. A good alternative is popcorn that is either oil-free or air popped. An added bonus: popcorn contains more fiber, and has 65% fewer calories per cup than potato chips. When you crave a salty, crunchy snack, choose popcorn!

Diet sodas have recently been linked to metabolic syndrome, which can cause the fat around your belly that contributes to heart disease. Better choices are water, green tea and flavored seltzer water.

Diet cookies often contain more sugar than regular cookies! They may be lower in fat, but that isn't going to help you lose weight if the calories are high. A good choice is Oatmeal cookies - they contain fiber too, good for cholesterol.

My point: Be careful when choosing diet foods or supposed "health foods". They often contain just as many calories, and aren't so healthy!
